About Msaada
Msaada, is an organisation established by concerned individuals in the Blackmore Vale area of North Dorset/South Wiltshire, England to help victims of the Rwandan genocide to rebuild their lives through self-sustainable development projects. The group is under the patronage of Fergal Keane of the BBC who reported on the atrocities in Rwanda in 1994 which left about one million dead and millions of lives in ruins. We are applying for Charitable status in the UK.
Msaada, a Swahili word meaning help, is working with the Association des Veuves du Genocide Agahozo (AVEGA), a self-help group who are seeking to assist 2948 widows and 5538 orphans in the Kibungo area of Rwanda left destitute after the horrors of the ethnic cleansing, to establish self-sustaining projects to encourage prosperity, development and growth.
Avega assists the survivors in a multitude of ways including training, education, livestock projects, medical assistance, HIV/AIDS treatment, counselling, legal advice, etc. (For a comprehensive account of Avega's work CLICK HERE)
Msaada is supporting several aspects of Avega's work, concentrating on education, training and livestock development to help those in need to develop skills which will allow them to live independent, meaningful and productive lives.
Amounts of money that British people would consider to be trivial, can give a young person, or an impoverished and homeless family, enormous hope for the future and set them on the road to self-sufficiency. For example, the cost of equipping a carpenter with the necessary tools at completion of a vocational training course is less than £200 and this will ensure that the family can generate income and so take them out of the poverty trap. To send a child to primary school for a year costs in the region of £30, and to secondary school, £100. A teacher's pay is upto £960 a year.
The problem is that when a person has no income then £200 might as well be £200 million. Without our support many of these widows and orphans are doomed to a lifetime of extreme poverty.
With our help, their lives can be transformed. It is as simple as that! Your response will make a difference.
All monies donated to Msaada go direct to pay for self-sustainable development projects.
